I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work on a few great weddings and events in the first couple of months of this new season! This past weekend I was part of a three-day wedding celebration that brought guests in from all over the country for a gathering of family and close friends. A private estate in La Quinta was the venue for the entire weekend filled with family traditions, fun in the sun, and dancing under the stars. For the rehearsal dinner, guests feasted on casual fare that included succulent pulled pork sliders and a family coleslaw recipe for a cool crowning effect to the delicious sliders. Over the Rainbow Cupcakes provided some amazing cakes: Red Velvet, Carrot Cake, and Chocolate Cake in celebration of four birthdays.
The wedding celebration was also casual with a spicy twist of Mexican-inspired food. Dining under the crystal clear skies was the perfect setting for the artisan Taco Bar complete with a selection of fish, beef and chicken; BIG-fat quesadillas stuffed with delicious goodies; an array of sides such as watermelon & jicama salad with lime and cilantro; and a dessert display that incorporated a family favorite: Whoopi Pies gone”miniature”.
Sunday’s “send off” brunch catered guests to my homemade granola, blueberry sour cream coffee cake, muffins, Greek yogurt, and other yummy delights!
I like the casual flair that couples are leaning towards — menus are fun and unpretentious — not your traditional surf & turf! Thank you to all those that allowed me to “feed them” in these past few weeks — I have truly enjoyed myself!
Remember: It’s o.k. to “play with your food!”
